Just like my photography - it all started with an appetite for life!
My journey into photography started way back in the mists of time - well, the 1960's anyway! I was given my first camera aged 8 or 9, a Kodak Box Brownie belonging to my parents and I was hooked. I was disappointed when the first film I put through it jammed halfway through. Not put off, I was determined to carry on and have progressed to the mirrorless kit I use today.
My two favourite photography genres are street and travel photography which can go hand in hand.
For my street work, I always convert my images to black and white having been inspired by the early street photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson and his book, "The decisive moment."
To me, that means capturing a little piece of history, a moment that can never be repeated.
Another reason for black and white for my street work is the following quote by Ted Grant, a Canadian Photojournalist.
"When you photograph a person in colour, you photograph their clothes. When you photograph a person in black and white, you photograph their soul."
My Travel photography images will always be in colour to show the vibrancy of the location.
If you're after a particular image, I might have one on my hard drive already. Please get in touch to find out more.
