Just like my photography - it all started with an appetite for life!
My journey into photography started way back in the mists of time - well, the 1960's anyway! I was given my first camera aged 8 or 9, a Kodak Box Brownie belonging to my parents and I was hooked. I was disappointed when the first film I put through it jammed halfway through. Not put off, I was determined to carry on and have progressed to the mirrorless kit I use today. My favourite photography genre is Street photography and I always convert my images to black and white having been inspired by the early street photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson and his book, "The decisive moment."
To me, that means capturing a little piece of history that can never be repeated. I've also been inspired by the following quotes:
"I only know how to approach a place by walking. For what does a street photographer do but walk and watch and wait and talk, and then watch and wait some more, trying to remain confident that the unexpected, the unknown, or the secret heat of the known awaits just around the corner."
Alex Webb.
"When you photograph people in colour, you photograph their clothes. When you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls."
Ted Grant.
I'm available for commission work including birthday parties, weddings (usually as a second shooter), anniversaries or any other special event.
If you're after a particular image, I might have one on my hard drive already. Please get in touch to find out more.
